Finding Shelter

We purchased this Florida vacation home recently. It was like many of our best adventures, it happened spontaneously and rather fast and with a modicum of research. Florida was a place we knew but not this location. In our minds, there was only Miami before. A place we lived for almost three wonderful years. But if I’m being honest, by the end of our stay we were through with Miami, the mood had turned, in the same way we were through with New York when we left there after eight years. Some places can only hold you for a time, even the best places in the world have an expiration date on them. Whether it’s because it has changed or you have, moving on happens.

After surviving the long sequester that was and still is for many, Covid, we were thankful to have left those places and be in a more hospitable environment. One that provided warmth and comfort and a home away from the Northeast. Having access to sunshine, space and a pool makes all the difference when the world around you is in flux. Being able to sit in the warm Summer air protected by the screened in patio from any elements, is one of the best salves I’ve ever encountered. The silence. The warmth. The smells of freshly grilled food on a plate, knowing that somewhere else there is snow, but right here, there is only warmth. For me that’s the best moment the villa offers, the welcoming warmth and deep respite.

If this speaks to you, then come and stay.
